I was born in Surrey and attended local schools, including the Dorking County Grammar School, where I developed a lifelong interest in drawing and painting. I have always been fascinated by natural history, and particularly enjoy painting birds, butterflies and flowers.
I work mainly in watercolour, which I find is an ideal medium for my detailed style. Its translucent qualities allow me to capture the effect of light on fur and feathers, and depict the frailty of flower petals and foliage.
I also love working with pen and ink. This medium also lends itself to detailed work, but allows me to adopt a looser style, which is ideal for sketching landscapes.
My wife Tracey and I have been commissioned to produce long-running wildlife articles for national magazines. My work has also appeared in children's books and encyclopedias.
After a long career in IT systems design and development, I recently moved with Tracey to a 16th Century barn conversion in the beautiful Worcestershire village of Pebworth. I am now inspired by the abundance of wildlife in the garden and the surrounding countryside.
